Campground Tour: Pocahontas State Park, Chesterfield, Virginia
Pocahontas State Park is located in Chesterfield, Virginia, southwest of Richmond. It’s a large park with a large campground — 129 RV sites, plus cabins and yurts. Most of the sites are shaded with tall oaks, and have picnic tables, grills and lantern holders.
Our reservation was for Site 20, which we discovered when we arrived was not level. The camping pad appeared to be at a 20 degree angle. Well, maybe not that steep. We could make it work, but it was not ideal.
Fortunately, after some sleuthing (checking the reservation system, seeing some tent campers packing up early), we found a better site (Site 30) that was available for our dates. The camp office made the change.
