Harvest Hosts Review: Cunningham Creek Winery, Palmyra, VA

In May, on our way home camping from Claytor Lake State Park, we stopped at a Harvest Host for the night, Cunningham Creek Winery in Palmyra, Virginia.

We emailed the host, Debby a couple of weeks in advance to see about staying, and she confirmed our reservation the next day.  When we arrived, Debby directed us to a level spot next to the road, overlooking the vines.

To be able to welcome guests comfortably outdoors during COVID, the owners of Cunningham Creek Winery built several pergolas with retractable fabric covers, each with its own seating.

It was lovely sitting there, sampling the Virginia Rose, Viognier, Estate Chardonnay and Middle Fork White.  Our favorite was the Rose – we drank one bottle there and took one home for later. CCW also offers light fare to have with your wine, including hummus, charcuterie and cheeses.

If you’re in the neighborhood, I recommend a visit to CCW. The wines are great, and so is the hospitality.
